From a young age I knew exactly where my future was heading and simply couldn’t wait to finish school at 16 and start my career in hairdressing. After completing my training, I worked within a couple of salons but it wasn’t enough to feed my hunger so in 2002 at the age of 27 my passion lead me to open Scott Banks Hairdressing in Wakefield centre.Along the way training as always been a key motivator with me, whilst my portfolio is full of awards and certificates I feel extremely proud and honoured to have trained and developed and helped some great stylists, over the years some turned into amazing salon owners themselves.
I enjoy working on the business, developing my team helping them achieve their goals whilst always looking at ways to improve our service levels. I love getting my teeth in to the challenges of day to day life in the salon, but nothing makes me happier than feeding my passion for hair and stood behind my chair.
In 2001 I realised I had nothing to prove, I have grown a very successful business and a reputation that clients love and trust. I lead a longstanding team of fantastic stylists who are highly skilled and experienced in providing the much loved luxuriously unique experience for all our clients.
My next venture was to provide a city centre salon that looked and operated differently from the others out there, I wanted to swap the formalities of a corporate approach, for a friendly calming oasis where clients can sit back enjoy a bespoke experience. The fire in me is kept alive by seeing clients looking happy and a genuine smile of appreciation for what and Scott Banks Hairdressing and I provide.
I have worked as a hairdresser for 20 years, taking a little break to have my son Jake. Along the way, I took a slight detour from hairdressing into a totally different career, although I really enjoyed it I missed the interaction of being in a salon.
I have worked alongside Scott now for 8 years, our longstanding team helps us create a really strong bond with one another. You feel like you have a real work family at Scott Banks Hairdressing, clients pass comments on how friendly and happy we all are.
I am a great all-round hairdresser with a bubbly personality that loves to help clients get the best from their hair cutting and creating shapes that they can manage and maintain in between appointments. I enjoy perming and adding movement to the hair and hope these trends come back as strong as they used to be. Having naturally curly hair myself I can offer style advice for any client with likeminded hair.
I have been hairdressing for 15 years, I have worked at Scott Banks Hairdressing for 2 years, before this I worked for a major salon chain where I moved up the ranks and became the salon manager, along the way I also had my son Sam.
As much I enjoy working with all shapes and lengths in particular longer hair styling, colouring hair is my forte. I am recognised as one of the countries elite colourist. I completed and became Wella Master Colour Expert, this intensive training programme taught me how to approach colour differently. From subtle to bolder colour changes or total technical colour correction I am your go-to girl.
Working for an independent salon our opinions are valued and heard, we have the support yet total freedom and control whilst expressing creativity via our work. I get the opportunity to update through training, and the products I use are the best available.
I love working alongside Scott and being part of the Scott Banks Family who truly support and value each other, from the assistants to the stylists then to our client managers, we all play our parts and make coming to work a joy.
I have worked with Scott since he opened the salon in 2002, I have seen many changes along the way, 2 of them came from me when I had a couple of short breaks to have my children Freya and Sam. I love the fact that I have helped play the part in making the salon as successful as it is to date.
I enjoy curling and styling longer hair but don’t be shocked if you see me applying some false hair to clients using great lengths 100% human hair extensions. Not just adding length I love helping clients achieve a more voluminous thicker style even more rewarding when you cannot recognise that it isn’t their real hair. I am a Wella Master Colour Expert, one of the countries elite colourists so no colour job is too much for me to handle, I love a technical challenge this is were my expertise kicks in, always happy to pass on my knowledge and support the rest of the team when and where needed.
I have a great relationship with all the clients, they trust my abilities to create an amazing look for them. I love being part of a fab team who are like my second family we have something special here. We are a happy team, and this does show in how we are in the salon on a day to day basis its lovely to see so many clients interact with all of us having unpressured time makes us all a lot happier. We work differently to other salons. I get the chance to control how much time I need with my clients on an individual basis providing quality not quantity so what’s not to love about my job.

I feel like I bridge the gap between the stylist and the client, I love getting the opportunity to sit and have a natter with the clients whilst they are waiting. Since we relocated the salon is so professional yet calming and relaxing, we don’t have a strict dress code which enables me to be me I think this ensures the clients genuinely warm to the friendliness within the salon and us as a team.
I have worked for Scott since he opened in 2002. I had a break after having Ruby for a few years and eventually came back to my roots. I originally trained as a hairdresser way back in time but enjoyed the reception role more.
